The 55-year-old has since been charged for using abusive language after he launched a number of expletives in Portuguese directly into the BT Sport cameras after their comeback win against Newcastle earlier this month. He is currently appealing the charge but could be given a touchline ban if that fails. He was also involved in an altercation with a Chelsea employee during their draw at Stamford Bridge last weekend.

With Mourinho hitting the headlines for the wrong reasons in recent times, the Glazer family have also got involved. United’s owners fear his outbursts are damaging United’s worldwide reputation. Consequently, United’s hierarchy have now taken action. According to the Sun, Mourinho has been ordered to bite his lip by United chiefs.

That will come as welcome news to United fans, with many wanting to see Mourinho concentrate on getting results on the pitch rather than making questionable comments to the media. The Sun go on to state that Mourinho’s relationship with Paul Scholes is also of serious concern.

United’s hierarchy are clearly not all happy with Mourinho’s behaviour in recent times and it seems they want to him to become more reserved in order to protect the image of the club. Whether Mourinho will listen to his superiors, however, remains to be seen.
