On Wednesday October 24, 2018, Monica Kimani’s murder suspects Joseph Irungu alias Jowie alongside his lover Journalist Jacque Maribe were arraigned in Court for their bail hearing.
The two who face murder charges appeared before Judge James Wakiaga in Milimani Law Courts.
They are both seeking release on bail.
Several political leaders have been appearing in Court during the hearings into Maribe’s case.
During the last hearing, Gatundu South member of parliament Moses Kuria was spotted in the Court, having come in solidarity with journalist Jacque Maribe.
On Wednesday, Statehouse digital and diaspora communications secretary Dennis Itumbi who has been appearing in Court in solidarity with Maribe was spotted hugging her shortly before the case started.
Moments before the case started, Nairobi County Senator Johnson Sakaja was spotted in what Kenyans kept on guessing whom was he in solidarity with.
Why is the Nairobi Senator @sakajajohnson in Court? Is he there to support the family of the late Monica Kimani that was brutally murdered or the murder suspects Jacque Maribe and Jowie?

Others started speculating that the senator was in solidarity with the embattled journalist Jacque Maribe.

Maribe has been seeking her release on bail citing that her four year old child who depends on her would suffer more if she is not released.
She has been under police detention at Lang’ata women’s prison.
