Come 2018 things went haywire for the Citizen TV personality when she was on Tuesday, October 9, produced in court alongside her lover, Joseph Irungu, to face murder charges, which effectively put her freedom and career in jeopardy. Maribe, who was arrested on September 29, in connection with the murder of business lady Monica Nyawira Kimani, could cease to be an employee of the Royal Media Services (RMS) after staying behind bars for more than two weeks should the employer choose to apply the law.

On 24 october 2018 , Prosecution led by Catherine Mwaniki opposed to the releasing of the two on bail or bond saying that they have been charged with a capital offence.
Prosecution further argued that while investigations are still underway they have already identified the key witnesses whom they say could be influenced by the accused persons.
In their submission, the prosecution termed Jowie as a flight risk since his nature of work indicates that he has travelled in middle East countries.

They further told the court that Jowie has not been cooperating with the police and the information he has given is not true.
