Migori Governor Okoth Obado is dissatisfied with the below-par performance of his lawyers and is reportedly chasing the services of senior counsel Fred Ngatia, blogger Robert Alai has claimed.
According to a tweet by Alai, Obado lost faith with his current defense team- led by former High Court Judge Nicholas Ombija- after they failed to secure his bail. Obado has been linked to the gruesome murder of his girlfriend Sharon Otieno and is currently cooling his heels at the Industrial Area prison.
Fred Ngatia is known for handling high profile cases with a high success rate. The lawyer’s fee has been termed by a section of the media as ‘outrageous’ but again Obado is a man of means. In one case, a team of lawyers led by Ngatia demanded kes290 million for representing the Kenya Airports Authority.
Other renowned lawyers representing the governor include Cliff Ombeta and Evans Ondieki.
