Recce squad officer Jennings Orlando Odhiambo was arrested on Thursday in connection to the Murder of Monica Kimani. The officer is currently being interrogated by the DCI homicide squad at Muthaiga Police Station. Reports indicate that Odhiambo is currently attached to the US embassy in Nairobi.

During his arrest, detectives searched his house at Recce Headquarters in Ruiru. Odhiambo was arraigned at the Kiambu Law Courts and detained for 14 days to facilitate investigations into the ongoing case. The GSU officer, who had been on the run for the past month, is alleged to have been with Joseph Irungu aka Jowie on the night of the murder of the Kilimani businesswoman.

On October 3, police revealed that they were after four people who Irungu contacted on September 19 in an attempt to seek advice on an issue that was disturbing him. Investigations suggested that the fiancé to Citizen TV journalist Jacque Maribe, had made calls and sent messages to four people before he switched off his mobile phone several hours after leaving the house at Lamuria Gardens off Denis Pritt Road.

The identities of the friends being sought by the police was, however, not revealed.

The detectives explained that the friends would be prosecuted if it was established that they aided Irungu who is being treated as the main suspect in the case.

The police are expected to carry out proper investigations about the third suspect before opening a case file and presenting him to the prosecution team leading the Monica’s murder case.
