Kipchoge Keino to act as a state witness in the Rio Olympics probe

Former olympic legendĀ  Kipchoge Keino has been turned as a state witness in the ongoing probe of over Sh55 million mismanagement during 2016 Rio Olympics.

According to the DCI investigations under DCI George Kinoti established on Thursday that despite being adversely mentioned in the graft saga, Mr. Keino, a former President of NOCK, did not sign any document.

On Thursday morning, Keino, who has been in Mexico, availed himself at the DCI headquarters along with former Cabinet Secretary Hassan Wario following the order by anti-graft Magistrate Douglas Ogoti.

Mr. Ogoti had given the duo along with two other officers to surrender by Thursday morning, failure to which, the court was to issue arrest warrants.

And the latest developments means Mr. Keino will now testify on behalf of the prosecution as he fights to clear his name.

The DPP accused Athletics Kenya officials of mismanagement of resources channelled in side of athletes but Team Kenya exposed some of the challenges experienced in Brazil.

Kipchoge Keino can now breath since he was on the verge of having his legendary status tainted by graft, despite a glittering career both on the tracks and on management.

The other three suspects including Wario will be charged with embezzlement of funds on Friday at Milimani Law Courts.
