Is Governor Obado Going Insane in Remand?

Embattled Migori Governor Okoth Obado is a man going through a lot at the moment. He has not only had to spend close to a month away from his family and electorates, he has also had to endure public ridicule as he faces charges relating to the murder of Sharon Otieno.

The governor continued stay at remand even saw him get sick and was treated at Kenyatta National Hospital. The governor is now reported to be in low spiritsĀ could be undergoing through depression at Industrial Area prison, a source has claimed.

Mr. Obado isolates himself from other inmates and has worried the warders due to persistent habit of talking to himself.

“At times, he cries loudly. The same thing happens when his family visits. He never goes for food,said the source, who spoke in confidence bacause he’s not authorized to speak on behalf of the family.

Also, he adds, Mr. Obado reads the Bible and sings while in his cube and at times attends Sunday service.

Prisons boss Isaya Osugo had earlier denied claims that Goernor Obado was offered special treatment while in Remand. He said the county chief has the same accommodation, clothing, feeding, and visit arrangements like any other inmates.

Osugo said that upon admission, Obado was processed and given prison number NBA/107/18/CR and placed in a cell block for capital offenders (murder suspects).

The Governor has denied murdering Sharon, a case emanating from the student’s abduction and subsequent murder on September 4. He will be back to court on October 24 to know the fate of his bail application.
