Chelsea Hit By International Break Curse Ahead of Man United Clash

Chelsea were also hit by the “international break curse” as Antonio Rudiger and Ethan Ampadu picked up injuries while on international duty with their respective National teams.

Rudiger picked up an injury last week while in training with the German national team in the build-up to the Netherlands game. Rudiger returned to Chelsea and hasn’t trained with the club but is expected to resume training when his fellow teammates return from the international break.

Ampadu picked up a knee injury as his side Wales lost 4-1 to Spain in an international friendly Thursday 11th October. Giggs gave an assessment of his injury saying, “Ethan just extended his knee a little bit in the second half, and we will assess it and see how it is.”

Chelsea joins Liverpool that has been severly hit by injuries to star players Salah, Mane and Van Dijk while on international duty.

With the Premier League returning on Saturday, Chelsea host Manchester United in an early kick-off match that could as well determine the future of embattled manager Jose Mourinho.
