What Tottenham told Wanyama after Harambee Stars match

Tottenham Hotspur have congratulated Kenyan skipper Victor Wanyama for his goal against Ethiopia in the African Cup of Nations qualifier.

Wanyama scored a penalty as Kenya beat Ethiopia 3-0 in a match played on Sunday at Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani.

Michael Olunga and Eric Johanna scored the other goals for Kenya as they picked maximum points to move four points clear on top of pool F.

“Congratulations to captain who was on the scoresheet in Kenya’s 3-0 victory over Ethiopia in today’s qualifier, ”  Spurs tweeted.

Meanwhile, the midfielder is in contention to feature for his side Tottenham Hotspur when they take on West Ham United Saturday 20th October despite being withdrawn with an injury as Harambee Stars beat Ethiopia 3-0 in an African Cup of Nations qualifiers match.

Wanyama was taken off just after the hour mark after he appeared to have pulled his hamstring when trying to deliver a cross. Harambee Stars coach noted that the substitution was a precautionary measure.

“I didn’t want to risk him, we were 3-0 up and as a Captain, he had done everything to take the team to AFCON, it was the right thing to do. We have a great medical team, they will assess him further but I am yet to get their report, I hope it’s nothing serious.”

The Evening Standard reports that Wanyama is in contention for a place in the game against West Ham United.
