The two got married in a royal wedding on 19 May 2018 in St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle in the United Kingdom.
The baby will be the Queen’s eighth great grandchild and will become 7th in the line of succession in the British throne. This means that it is unlikely that he/she will ever be monarch unless the Queen steps in to issue letters of patent ahead of the birth. If not, the child will instead become Lord/Lady as Prince Harry is not in the direct line of succession.
The former actress’s mother, Doria Ragland expressed her excitement saying that she was very happy about the lovely news and is looking forward to welcoming her first grandchild.
The UK Prime Minister, Theresa May, in a tweet, congratulated the couple on their new bundle of joy.
My warmest congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on the happy news they are expecting a baby in the Spring. Wishing them all the best. https://t.co/nnneVi8rBO
