Wajir Governor Mohamed Abdi Mohamud undertook his undergraduate degree at the Kampala University, according to documents he has filed at the Supreme Court where he challenging the nullification of his election.
In a bid to prove that he studied and graduated at Kampala University, Governor Mohamud submitted to the Apex court an affidavit sworn by Kampala University’s current Academic Registrar Mr. Ssegawa Hamza showing that he was admitted at and graduated from the university.
In the court documents, the Kampala University Academic Registrar affirms that the Wajir Governor, successfully completed his studies and qualified for the award of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration.
“I checked with our records and confirmed that the said Mohamed Abdi Mohamud was admitted to Kampala University on July 29, 2009 to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration.
“He cleared for graduation and was accordingly awarded a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration at the graduation ceremony held on March 1, 2012,” says Mr. Hamza.
Several other affidavits were also filed at the court to support Governor Mohamud’s academic credentials from Kampala University.
They include a letter of completion, a sworn affidavit by the current registrar Evans Kerosi Somoni, an academic registrar of Kampala University from 2005 to 2011 and a clearance letter dated December 10, 2011 showing he successfully completed his degree at the university.
The Supreme Court had on Friday allowed Mr. Mohamud to table his academic certificates, stating that he was not given a fair hearing at both the trial and the appellate court with regard to his academic qualifications.
