Top KPL Clubs Mourn the Departed Dennis Lewa

 

A number of Kenyan Premier League (KPL) clubs have come out to mourn with Thika United, whose former captain Dennis Mwangala Lewa perished in a road accident on Wednesday 10th October.

Mwangala was among the confirmed 55 passengers who lost their lives in the dawn accident in Kericho County and Thika United made the confirmation on Thursday 11th October after a positive identification.

The player was on his way to Kakamega where he was scheduled to sign an agreement with Kakamega Homeboyz after securing his release from Thika United earlier on.

Ulinzi Stars, one of the teams he played against just three months before his demise, stated: Dennis Lewa skippered Thika United in our game at Thika Sub County Stadium on 1st July 2018. It is so sad to learn of his passing on just three months down. It is indeed a low moment losing such a young and talented player. We join the entire football fraternity, his family and friends in mourning at this tough moment. May his soul rest in peace.

Sony Sugar, one of the teams in the premier league noted: On behalf of the Sony Sugar FC fraternity we wish to convey our deepest condolences to Thika United family for having lost such a promising and talented player in Denis Lewa Yori to the fatal Fort Ternan road crash.

Mathare United posted: We would like to pass our sincere condolences to the family of Thika United defender Dennis Lewa who passed on in the grisly Fort Ternan accident on Wednesday.

The team he was supposed to join, Homeboyz, also passed condolences, stating: With tears in our eyes and pain in hearts!
We regret the untimely demise of our new signing Dennis Lewa formerly of Thika United!
Dennis was among the passengers involved in kericho accident!
May Lord our God stand with the affected families during this hard times.

Dennis joined Thika United at the start of the 2018 season having earlier played for Coast Stima FC.
