Sharon Otieno to be Buried next Friday in Homabay

The body of Sharon Otieno, the slain Rongo University student will be burried on Friday of next week in her ancestral land in Homa Bay.

The family revealed amid the ongoing case that has seen Migori Governor Okoth Obado and his two aides face murder charges.

Governor Obado, his personal assistant, Michael Oyamo and the Migori County Assembly Clerk, Casper Obiero were all charged with two counts of murder; that of the late Sharon Otieno and her unborn baby.

The late Sharon Otieno, a student at Rongo University is said to be Governor Obado’s girlfriend and was seven months pregnant at the time of her untimely death.

Ms. Otieno was abducted and killed together with her unborn child. According to the post-mortem, Sharon was stabbed several times while her unborn baby was also stabbed with a knife through the spine to the stomach and left for dead in the thicket.

According to an affidavit filed by Sharon’s mother, Ms. Melida Otieno and the Federation of Women Lawyers Kenya (FIDA), the family now wants the suspects to remain in detention until the trial after the suspects fresh bid to be released on bail.

Should the court decline Obado’s bail request, the governor will be spending his fourth week in remand.

Obado and his aides were on Friday before Justice Jessie Lessit at Milimani Law Courts to know the fate of their bail application.
