Obado bado! What to Expect as he gets Back in the dock

Migori Governor Okoth Obado is set to appear before justice Jessie Lessit on Friday for the hearing into his bail application in the ongoing Sharon Otieno’s murder case.

Obado’s case was consolidated with that of his two aides Michael Oyamo and Caspal Obiero who are also suspects in detention following Sharon’s murder.

On October 8, Justice Lessit had directed that Obado, Oyamo and Obiero be detained at Industrial Area Remand Prison until Friday.

The trio was charged afresh with two counts of murder after the court allowed the prosecution to amend the charge sheet and include the murder of Sharon Otieno’s unborn baby.

State lawyer Alexander Muteti told the court that life begins at conception, hence, the infant’s life was also cut short during the gruesome murder. The infant has since been buried.

The trio however pleaded not guilty to the two counts of murder, as the court allowed consolidation of their cases into one.

A post-mortem conducted by government pathologist Dr. Johansen Oduor revealed that Sharon was stabbed eight times and died from excessive bleeding.

He also revealed that the stubs got the unborn baby.

Obado has since filed two applications to have him granted bail but Justice Lessit has been refusing to release him on bail citing interference with the ongoing investigations.

On Friday last week Obado filed an application to have him released on bail citing his health condition following his admission at Kenyatta National Hospital following a stomachache.

On Monday this week Sharon Otieno’s mother Melda Auma wrote to the Court to plead to it not to grant Obado bail citing that the witnesses into the case of her Slain daughter’s case may be threatened.

Obado is expected to appear before Justice Lessit alongside his two aides Oyamo and Obiero who all seek for a bail grant as attention turns to the court to see whether Justice for Sharon Otieno will prevail.

Political leaders among them NASA leader Raila Odinga have been heard saying that Obado remains innocent until proven guilty by the court.
