GIRL POWER: KANZE DENA BECOMES KENYA’S FIRST FEMALE SPOKESPERSON

Literally a day after the world celebrated the International Day of the Girl, President Uhuru Kenyatta has confirmed the appointment of Kanze Dena as State House Spokesperson and Head of the Presidential Strategic Communication Unit which makes her the first ever female State House Spokesperson in Kenyan history.

Kanze was acting as the State House Spokesperson for three months after Manoah Isipisu was appointed Kenya’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom in July this year.

Miss Kanze’s appointment comes barely five months after the President appointed her to a newly created position of Deputy State House Spokesperson and Deputy Head of PSCU. Before leaving for State House in what was an emotional farewell, Kanze Dena was a TV anchor on Citizen TV’s Nipashe news desk.

Speaking shortly after the announcement of her confirmation, Kanze said, “I will work with my team and all stakeholders across Government to ensure that we deliver on our mandate as the President’s media team… I am well aware of the demands of the job and confirm my preparedness to step into the shoes of my predecessor. I trust that with God and with the support of my superiors and the cooperation of my team, we will be able to succeed.”

Many Kenyans including the Chief of Staff to the office of the President have sent in their congratulatory messages and messages of good will to Miss Dena following her appointment.
