A number of police officers Wednesday said they have gone without salary for over a year after the Administration Police Service and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations failed to solve a dispute over their placement.
The officers said no one had listened to their pleas even as they sought to know their fate.
They said they heard that they could have been suspended but that there was no letter to prove the same.
On Wednesday, the officers said they were yet to get salaries since June last year.
The officers, who were APs before they were picked during a talent search to join DCI, have been denied pay after their former department failed to clear them despite approval by the Inspector-General of Police Joseph Boinnet.
In a communication in June 2016, the 21 officers were transferred to the DCI department via a directive to all regional coordinators and county criminal investigations officers.
However, things got worse after they left their stations. They were accused of desertion of duty and their salaries suspended.
Recently, they said they were asked to go back to their former AP stations even without a word about their pay.
“We were just ordered to go back to our previous stations. No one said anything about our salaries. How can we survive without a salary for over a year?” said an officer who requested anonymity for fear of victimisation.
