Revealed: The total amount Mathare United will get from the new sponsorship deal

OdiBets and former Kenya Premier League Champions Mathare United have agreed to a three year partnership. This is the largest sponsorship agreement in the history of the Club and one of the most lucrative in the history of the Kenyan Premier League.

The deal which begins at the start of the 2018/2019 season, will see Mathare United donning the OdiBets logo on the front of the first team’s kit. OdiBets will also have a wide presence inside Mathare United’s stadium through various branding.

Making the announcement, OdiBets Country Marketing Manager, Dedan Mungai said, “We’re really excited to announce this partnership with Mathare United Football Club, a Club with great heritage and significance in Kenya’s footballing scene. The club are coming off a very impressive season as the most improved team in the KPL and we can’t wait to see how the next few seasons unfold”. Dedan added: “OdiBets and Mathare United share a similar story and vision with our focus being nurturing sporting talent from the mtaa to national and international stardom”.

As they head into another season, the players, technical bench and management of Mathare United Football Club are delighted with the new OdiBets partnership.

Bob Munro, Mathare United’s Chairman and founder commented, “The past few seasons have been particularly successful for the Club both on and off the pitch despite some financing challenges. This sponsorship will certainly give the Club the stability it needs to forge ahead and compete for the KPL title”.

A key part of the sponsorship will be the development of grassroots football. Under its football charitable outreach programme dubbed OdiBets Mtaani, OdiBets will work in conjunction with Mathare United to promote the causes that both entities are committed to.

The three year sponsorship deal worth Ksh 60 million, could not have come at a better time according to team coach Francis Kimanzi. “To be a successful team you need motivation that brings a lot of consistency and this partnership with OdiBets is a huge relief for us because at the end of the season when we shall approach some new targets, they will be motivated and confident that the environment will be safer,” said the Harambee Stars assistant coach.
