A section of Kenyans on twitter have reacted to the announcements by CS Amina saying that they are not impressed by some of the changes made. Kenyans have reacted saying that it is only poor Kenyans that will suffer. They also accused the leadership for being inconsiderate because their children study abroad and therefore will no be affected with the changes made.
CS Amina was speaking to the press when she was addressing the issue of exam preparedness. CS Amina said that parents will not be allowed to visit their children this term. Education Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed also warned against the use of mobile phones to cheat in the national examinations, saying parents will bear the responsibility should their children be caught.
“Parents whose children will be found with mobile phones in school will be held personally responsible for the actions. Their children will immediately be suspended from school and such candidates will not be allowed to sit the examinations,” she said.
“Hey @AMB_A_Mohammed you’re turning boarding schools into prisons? Actually. prisons are better, they get visitors. No private school will follow such a draconian directive, its poor people’s children who will suffer. @wmnjoya @gathara @alexawiti come see this Amina’s madness.reads tweet

Schools are for teaching Kenyans to accept oppression

A bad move! I disagree with the Cs! The children need to connect with their parents once a term, whilst in a Boarding School to release steam! It gives the parents an opportunity to also discuss with the teachers on the progress and well being of their children.

Exactly, this form of ”imprisonement” will only lead to more depressed, unproductive children who will ultimately act out. She is a parent, I am apalled at her inability to rationalise what reforms would be in the best interest of the children.
