Detectives find a latest breakthrough into Sharon’s murder probe

Okoth Obado(L), Sharon Otieno(R)

Homicide detectives have identified three hitmen whom they believe were hired to brutally kill Rongo University Student Sharon Otieno.

The breakthrough comes days before the planned burial of Sharon who was abducted, killed and the body dumped in Kodero forest, last month.

The trio, according to police, were profiled killers for hire from Migori’s Uriri area, where Governor Okoth Obado hails.

Detectives attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) obtained the suspects’ biodata, including photographs.

Her seven-month foetus was buried a fortnight ago.

Migori Governor Okoth Obado and his aides were arrested over the murder of Sharon and have been in remand following investigations by sleuths.

Obado was remanded at Industrial area prisons.

On Wednesday Obado was admitted to the Kenyatta National Hospital after he fell ill while at the Industrial Area Prison.

Governor Obado was admitted to the hospital’s private wing but it was not immediately established what he was ailing from.

On Friday Obado filed an application in the high court seeking his release on bail due to his health condition which he termed worsening due to lack of proper medical attention.

Two suspects, being Obado’s PA Michael Oyamo and former Kanyadoto MCA Lawrence Mula, were arrested and charged owing to their link to the student’s killing.

Caspal Obiero, who works as a clerk in Migori County but routinely serves errands for Governor Obado, was also charged after a vehicle he drives was linked to the kidnapping incident.
