Has Willy Paul Msafi retraced his gospel path?

Controversial urban gospel singer, Willy Paul Msafi has come back with a new lyrical hit single called ” Imani.” Willy Pozze as famously known in the streets has this time done a song which most of his fans will say its a return track to the urban gospel industry in Kenya.

The hit maker of ” bora uhai” featuring the sensational Kenyan rapper Khaligraph Jones otherwise known as the OG, and ”Njiwa” which he featured Tanzanian music Princess , Nandy, have been on the spotlight from many Kenyans who were question whether he is still in the gospel industry. Eyebrows have been raised on the content of his music which seemed to be love songs rather than gospel songs.

The 2013 Groove Awards  male artist of the year has always stood head high to defend his music and tying his love lyrics to be Bible. Pozze who has done a number of collabos with a number of secular artists including Harmonize from Tanzania, Nandy, Sauti Sol , Khaligraph Jones and Ben Pol, has in many occasions received critics and even some made fun of his music using memes.  The urban gospel celebrated artist has even done international collaborations with Alaine , the Jamaican Reggae artist and Yemi Alade, the Nigerian sing bird which they have improved his youtube views and ranked him among the top musicians in Kenya.

Willy Paul who is currently visiting the United States has released Imani despite all the critics. Imani song is basically about trusting in the Lord alone.  He says people will betray you, your husband , wife , your girlfriend , your boyfriend , your brother , your sister even your own friends. But he adds by saying if you put your trust in God , you will not regret anything. The song has deep spiritual allusion which most of his fans have been craving for quite a while. Although the introduction of the song talks about a betrayed relationship but he picks on the chorus to glorify The Almighty.

Willy Paul and Bahati who is currently airing his reality show on NTV on Sundays known as being bahati  have been on spotlight for a while for misleading the urban gospel industry. Bahati who has also done a number of collabos with other secular artist such as Aslay and Mbosso both from Tanzania has been accused of being in the industry just to make money and for fame.

Mtoto wa mama as mostly known, has always stood to the public to defend his image.Both are trying to re-shape the paths into the urban gospel industry. Bahati who also owns the E.M.B record label has done a hit song featuring one of the artist signed under his label , David Wander known as Nipende. The song has enjoyed airplay from most of the Kenyan T.V and radio stations.

Saldido Record label owner, Willy Paul is expecting to receive the maximum airplay on the Kenyan gospel shows which for quite a while he has been missing. Although he has not given the song much hype has he usually does but most Kenyans have given him positive feedback on the content of the song which is rich and inspiring.lets wait and see if Willy Pozze will maintain the same content of spirituality.
