“Leave Kibaki alone” KOT react to Muthaura’s confession

Recent revelations has sparked a heated debate as Kenyans express their views on the taxpayers money that was used by Kibaki to pay for two of his grandchildren’s scholarship fees. This happened yesterday when Former Head of Public Service Francis Muthaura revealed that retired Kibaki used his influence to give his two grandchildren scholarships at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in Australia.

Muthaura also revealed that the money was set aside to pay for the expense of Ian and Sandra’s education whose dad had lost his job at that time. The father of the two, who Muthaura identified as Githinji, is the retired President’s nephew and had lost his job at a local company dealing in petroleum products at the time he needed to take his two children to school.

Another revelation is that the former President initially approved support for Ian but that this was later changed to include Sandra. “The President himself wrote to me on this matter and he later varied his earlier communication verbally to have the second student included,” said Muthaura.

This has attracted a lot of debate and attention of Kenyans, with some demanding that he should be charged with abuse of office, others want the money returned with interest but some have come out to defend the former President saying that it was all done in good course.
