Gor Mahia secretary Bernard Omondi has denied reports that the club have reached an agreement to sign Shafik Batambuze.

K’Ogalo CEO Omondi Aduda confirmed to Goal on Wednesday that they have reached a deal to sign the former Tusker player on a three-year contract. Aduda also told Goal that the Kenyan champions have re-signed former midfielder Kenneth Muguna from KF Tirana in Albania.

“Batambuze will come in as a replacement for Godfrey Walusimbi, who left for Kaizer Chiefs whereas Muguna is coming back home,” said Aduda.

But in a quick rejoinder, Gor Mahia secretary Omondi has denied the same terming the signings as ‘fake news’. “Consider the signing of Ugandan Shafik Batambuze as fake news, and if it happens then it’s the operation of cartels in Gor Mahia whom we have been fighting.”

Gor Mahia will represent the country in Caf Champions League next season.
