Ian Wright wants Danny Welbeck to stay at the Emirates

Arsenal  forward Danny Welbeck is too valuable to be allowed to leave the Gunners on a free transfer.

Arsenal and England International foward Danny Welbeck scored twice to send Arsenal into the fourth round of the Carabao Cup with a 3-1 victory over Championship side Brentford.

The striker headed in Matteo Guendouzi’s cross after before poking home a brilliant move before half-time at Emirates Stadium.

But Welbeck’s five-year stint at Arsenal could be over at the end of the season if he fails to agree new terms with the club.

The 27-year-old has now scored four times this season and is hopeful of establishing himself in Unai Emery’s first choice forward line.

And Arsenal Legend Ian  Wright said he thinks his former club would regret letting Welbeck leave as his goal contributions would be sorely missed.

Asked if he thought the England international still has a role to play under new boss Unai Emery, Wright replied: “Yes I certainly do.Where he is right now, behind Lacazette and Aubameyang, coming off the bench with his experience. And the fact that he is capable of scoring goals against all types of opposition. He’s someone that I think Arsenal should definitely try to sign up for the long term.”

The second  Arsenal record goal scorer continued, “He’s valuable to  Arsenal. I think he’s got eight to 10 goals in him over the course of a season. In the current climate, I don’t think Arsenal can afford to let someone like that go.”
