Gianfranco Zola Appreciative of Maurizio Sarri’s intensive training sessions

Chelsea assistant manager Gianfranco Zola appreciates Sarri’s attention to detail, he says Maurizio Sarri is leaving nothing to chance in his pursuit of silverware.

Sarri arrived at Stamford Bridge this summer and has already had an enormous impact in a few short months.

Squad harmony has been restored and Chelsea’s results have been near perfect with six wins and one draw from seven games.

Zola was surprised to have been given a chance at Chelsea after his failed stint as Birmingham boss where he won just twice in 24 games.

But the former Blues talisman says he is learning huge amounts from Sarri’s dedication to his craft and eye for detail.

He said: ”I think I have seen very few coaches that when they work, they are so detailed and work so much like Maurizio does on the games and with everything he does. What you see on the pitch is the result of the huge work he does behind the scenes.”

The 59-year-old Italian led Napoli to a second-placed finish in Serie A last season, just four points behind Juventus.

Sarri is notorious for having 33 corner routines, while he also pioneered the use of drones in training at Napoli.

Gianfranco Zola likes what he’s seeing from his boss.

He added, “It is a lot of work honestly, everyone, not only him, but everyone in his coaching staff works a lot, we don’t want to leave anything to coincidence so for me it has been quite an experience. The more you work, the more you find the energy to work and this is the most important thing.”

Chelsea face Lierpool in the Carabao Cup third round tonight.
