Ian Wright highlights the biggest problem Manchester United have with Sanchez

The former Arsenal star has been struggling for form at Manchester United in recent months.

Arsenal legend Ian Wright  has attempted to put his finger on the biggest problem Manchester United have with  Alexis Sanchez.

The Red Devils signed the Chilean as part of a swap deal with Arsenal, which saw Henrikh Mkhitaryan go the other way, back in January.

But Manchester United have only seen glimpses of the player who would regularly stun crowds with his ability when plying his trade at the Emirates.

Sanchez was hooked on the hour mark last time out, as Manchester United dropped two points against Wolves, and was criticised for his performance against the newly-promoted side.

Wright, has suggested that the Red Devils may consider selling the Chilean in the summer as he’s not proving to be great value for money.

But his steep wages mean United have none of the power when it comes to offloading. Alexis Sanchez is the best-paid player at Manchester United.

Former England International said, “If I was a businessman, I’d see how it goes for the rest of the season then look to offload,” explained the former Arsenal forward. “It’s because of the wages he’s on. For me, right now, if United had paid money for him they’d be thinking: ‘How are we going to get that back?’

Wright  continued by saying. “Sanchez will have to take a hit on his weekly wage [if he joins another club]. Nobody will pay a fee for him, because of the way he’s playing.”

Manchester United are known for having an eye-watering wage bill, and Sanchez’s earnings sit at the very top of this pile.

It is alleged that the Chilean earns a basic salary of £391,000 per week with £75,000 paid as a bonus every time he’s named in the starting XI.
