NTV lands in trouble for hosting a government imposter on live TV show

Nation Media Group landed in trouble on Thursday with the Council of Governors (CoG) after hosting a guest who claimed to be working for the Council on its morning show, AM Live.

In a statement to the ATV station, CoG dismissed any associations with Eng Charles Kalomba who was on the show as Lead Advisor to CoG and Secretary General Juakali Sector.

The Council stated that it neither had such a position nor engaged Kalomba on a contract basis for the role.

“We, therefore, distance ourselves from everything said b Eng. Kalomba during the show,” the press statement reads.

CoG went ahead to direct media stations to involve its communication department when inviting guests for shows.

AM Live hosted Eng Kalomba among other guests to debate the controversial 8-percent VAT on petroleum.

Members of Parliament are set to vote on the Finance Bill later on in the day. If the lawmakers vote for the Bill the cost of living in the country is speculated to rise drastically.
