Costa slapped with a ban

Juventus winger Douglas Costa has received a four-game ban for spitting on the face of Sassuolo’s Federico Di Francesco.

The speedy Brazilian winger was shown a straight red for the incident but he hinted on his social media handles that Di Francesco racially abused him, something the latter has vehemently denied.

Juventus Manager  Max Allegri revealed that he was expecting a lengthy ban for the player.  The Italian Football Federation viewed the footage for violent conduct and came to the conclusion that if was insufficient to give him a further ban.

“I was surprised by his reaction. We have suffered a goal, a red card and a suspension, which will be long.”

Costa will, however, miss just four Serie A matches including a home clash against Napoli.
