Costa claims he is innocent

Juventus winger Douglas Costa has pleaded his ‘innocence’ after sitting and head-butting Federico Di Francesco in the 2-1 win over Sassuolo, noting that people don’t know what the Sassuolo forward said to him.

Costa came on as a 61st-minute substitute in place of Mario Mandzukic and was carded in added time for a disgraceful and unacceptable incident when he elbowed Di Francesco before head-butting and spitting on him. The incident started when the Sassuolo player fouled him in the 91st minute which provoked Costa who lounged on him to minutes later which lead to the whole saga erupting.

Costa pleaded his ‘innocence’ hinting at some harsh words said by Di Francesco, “You do not know what you are talking about, you do not know what Di Francesco told me. But everything’s okay, I apologized, because I’m wrong.” The Brazilian is set to be banned for three games for the red card but Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri revealed that his set to banned further by the club.
