Raila comments on the death of Sharon Otieno

Orange Democratic Movement leader Raila Odinga broke his silent on Wednesday while he strongly condemned the abduction and killing of Sharon Otieno.

Through a twitter post, the Opposition Chief called for speedy investigations into the matter, asking the relevant authorities to bring to book those involved.

“I would like to call upon the relevant investigative agencies to move with speed to ensure that those involved in her killing are brought to book.

The student had been abducted alongside Nation journalist Barrack Oduor, who managed to jump from the moving car at Nyangweso Market after suspecting something was amiss.

The journalist was pursuing a story implicating Migori Governor Okoth Obado in a love triangle but the governor has since distanced himself from the allegations.

His PA Michael Oyamo was however arrested in connection with the abduction and will aid police in investigations.

The second year student, who was pursuing a degree in Medical Records and Information at Rongo University, has been missing since Monday evening.

Sharon’s father Douglas Otieno on Wednesday confirmed that he viewed his daughter’s body at the Oyugis Level Four Hospital in Oyugis at 1am.

He rushed to the hospital after police informed the family that a woman’s body had been found dumped in Kodera Forest.

A senior criminal investigations officer in Homa Bay also confirmed that the body was found in the dense forest.
