A new study has discovered a way to do all of this without doing even a spot of exercise.

You don’t have to set one foot in the gym, or even don a pair of trainers in order to achieve these goals.

This is because doing basic household chores can help you to lose as many as 600 calories.

As improbable as it might seems, “intense” forms of housework can burn a huge amount of calories.

A study conducted by the Good Housekeeping Institute found two hours of cleaning could burn 600 calories.

This is the same amount of calories you might hope to burn through one hour of swimming or running.

The chores that burn the most calories include window cleaning, which burns an impressive 115 calories in just 20 minutes. Similarly, cleaning your bathroom burn some 100 calories on average.

A 40 minute session of dusting can burn even more calories, totalling just under 200.

However, if you don’t fancy doing this, there is yet another way to lose 600 calories which doesn’t involve moving at all.

This is through sitting inside a sauna for a total of half an hour. Sitting in a hot sauna makes your overall body temperature rise.

Your body then burns calories by increasingly your heart rate and producing sweat – the same reactions that happen when you exercise.

There are several other ways you can lose weight without exercising.

Losing weight is a big commitment, with dieters having to not only change what they eat but also increases the amount of time spent exercising.

During the summer months, with days longer and hotter weather, the idea of pounding the pavement or treadmill can be one of the most unappealing.

Ways to lose weight without exercising include changing the way you travel to work, for instance by walking up and down more escalators.

You can also eat metabolism boosting foods. Protein-rich foods such as meat, fish, eggs, dairy etc, could help boost the metabolism by requiring your body to use up more energy when digesting them.

Finally, soaking in an Epsom salt bath is a good way to lose weight. It can help the body release toxins, which over time can cause weight gain, along with a host of health and happiness issues.
