Tottenham star Christian Eriksen has demanded wage parity with top-earner Harry Kane… with Barcelona and Real Madrid closely monitoring the situation. Spurs have been in talks with their Danish star regarding a new deal for six months, but discussions appear to have reached breaking point.

Eriksen, 26, has under two years left on his current deal and is hoping for a bumper pay-rise to around £200,000-a-week.

Kane recently penned a new mega-money deal in North London, while Hugo Lloris also pocketed a huge pay-rise going into the season. Now, star playmaker Eriksen is hoping to force Tottenham’s hand somewhat with an incredible demand in the latest round of contract negotiations.

The Danish star has been on the radar of La Liga giants Barcelona and Real Madrid all summer.

With just a matter of days left to go in the Spanish transfer window, Eriksen could yet make a move away from the club should his demands not be met.

Tottenham now face a dilemma: Pay Eriksen the big bucks – which Spurs are always apprehensive to do – or risk losing their real key cog.

Eriksen moved to White Hart Lane from Ajax for just £11million in 2013 and has gradually become known as one of the best midfielders on the planet.

The 26-year-old Danish midfielder has less than two years left on his current deal and Spurs are anxious to secure the long-term future of the man they signed for £11million in 2013 from Ajax.

Talks have been going on for the last six months but no agreement is in sight because Eriksen wants to be paid on a par with striker Harry Kane and World Cup winning goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.
