We look forward to Sunday’s La Liga clash between Girona and Real Madrid at the Estadi Montilivi. “Los Blancos” began their campaign with a 2-0 victory against Getafe, whilst Catalan side Girona will be looking for their first three points of the season following a 0-0 draw with Valladolid last weekend.

TEAM NEWS:

Girona: Patrick Roberts, newly acquired from sister club Manchester City on loan, could be in line to appear once more, though likely from the bench. Elsewhere, Johan Mojica, Jonas Ramalho, and Carles Planas are all sidelined due to injury. Forward Cristhian Stuani picked up a knock last time out but is expected to still lead the line.

Real Madrid: World Cup finalists Luka Modric and Raphael Varane are likely to start their first league match of the season, while new additions Thibaut Courtois and Alvaro Odriozola should make the substitutes bench.

Eusebio Sacristán: “It will be a vibrant and tense match. And I am convinced we will have great support from our fans. Madrid’s coach gives them freedom of movement, creates superiority on the part, they have physical and technical power … Through this freedom they try to overcome their rivals. We have to do things very well to win. Madrid will still be strong without Ronaldo.”

Julen Lopetegui: “Our preparations for each game are always different. There’s always a differentiating factor in the form of the opposition, regardless of whether you’re playing at home or away.

Every match is completely different and that’ll again be the case here. We want to make sure we prepare well so that we head into the game in the best possible shape and try to beat Girona, which is our target. This game is extremely important to us.

Each LaLiga game is a battle and this one is vitally important. Reguilón will be part of the first-team squad. He’s a left-back and is a product of our youth team. He’s training excellently, we really like him and he brings great excitement and energy to the squad.”
