What is former Arsenal boss Wenger upto

Wenger left Arsenal this summer after 22 years in charge of the club with Unai Emery replacing the Frenchman. He had been expected to make a decision following the World Cup, where he worked as a pundit for beIN Sports.

But it seems Wenger will enjoy his time away from the game for a little while longer yet, having announced he won’t make a decision this month.

“I decided not to decide,” Wenger told Corse Matin when asked if he has decided on his future. “I was obsessed with it for so long that I made a promise to make no decision until September.”

Emery has already come under pressure as Arsenal manager, losing his opening two Premier League games. Arsenal were beaten 2-0 by Manchester City before a 3-2 loss at Chelsea at the weekend.

And the Premier League’s all-time leading goalscorer Alan Shearer has revealed a key subject Emery needs to sort if he wants to improve.

“Emery is going to have a big issue trying to get the best out of Mesut Ozil,” Shearer told The Sun.

“It was a brave decision hauling him off after 68 minutes (vs Chelsea) but he was absolutely right to do so because Ozil was doing nothing.

“Arsenal were carrying him. He was a passenger in the game.

“Before the season started, Emery was lavishing praise on Ozil, which I suspect was to try and get the best out of him. But he has barely kicked the ball in Arsenal’s first two games.

“At the minute, the Gunners look a million miles away from launching a challenge for the Premier League. And with their current team, I would very much doubt that they will even get into the top four. They are already six points behind their rivals and, at this early stage, that is worrying. Emery has a massive job on his hands. There is so much work to do.”
