Why Gor Mahia FC is praising Kisumu Governor Nyongo

Gor Mahia through their CEO Lordvick Aduda have appreciated the support offered by Kisumu County governor Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o during their stay in Kisumu

Aduda said that the good support in which the governor hosted the team for three nights helped the club.

“We thank the county Government of Kisumu under the able leadership of Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o for the support the county extended to the team for paying for the three nights accommodation while in Kisumu for the last two matches against Posta Rangers last Friday and against Homeboyz that was played today,” the CEO told the official Gor Mahia website.

“We are currently faced with a congested fixture both in the local league as well as the continental engagements which comes with a lot of financial requirements, such good gestures must be appreciated, particularly at a time when the club is making arrangements to host Rayon on Sunday and prepare to travel to Algiers in less than two weeks time,” he added.

Gor Mahia played two matches in Kisumu and harvested maximum points against Posta Rangers and Kakamega Homeboyz.

The next league fixture Gor Mahia will be hosting Chemelil Sugar on Thursday at Afraha stadium in Nakuru.

A 44th minute Enock Agwanda strike was all Sony Sugar needed to beat Ulinzi Stars at the Afraha Stadium in Nakuru. The burly forward capitalized on the centre-backs reluctance to clear a ball to slot in.

Mathare United had not beaten Sharks in a league match prior to this game and it is perhaps what motivated them to go for a win in what was a thoroughly entertaining match at the MISC Kasarani.

Former Mathare United winger Harrison Mwendwa made a good run down the right wing to deliver a perfect cross to Eric Kapaito to score the opener in the 11th minute. Chrispin Oduor restored parity in the 21st minute with a cool finish. Ahmed Ahmad scored the winner in the 83rd via a beautiful free kick from the edge of the box. Geoffrey Shiveka had handled the ball after a brilliant run by youngster Cliff Nyakeya.

Thika United’s slump continued as they suffered a humiliating 1-3 loss to Wazito FC at home. Veteran Hadji Mwachoki opened the scoring for the homeside at the quarter hour mark, Heritier Luvualu finding him with a perfectly weighted pass after a swift counter attack. Ivorian International Emmanuel Tienan equalized for the visitors heading in a corner in the 27th minute.  Derrick Onyango made it 2-1 in favour of the visitors 2 minutes after the restart, intercepting a miss-pass to score. Edwin Lavatsa capitalized on some casual clearance by Thika to make it 3-1 in the 49th minute and they held on to the scoreline to pick the three crucial points.

Ezekiel Odera scored a brace as AFC Leopards beat Nakumatt 4-2 in an entertaining clash played in Machakos.

Odera opened the scoring in the 17th minute beating Peter Odhiambo with a good shot after Moses Mburu found him with a clever pass. He doubled the lead in the 23rd minute after a nice pass from Marvin Nabwire. Joe Waithira pulled one back for Nakumatt just before the break from the spot after he was brought down in the box by Ezekiel Owade but Jaffari Odeny made it 3-1 just before the break.

Marvin Nabwire made it 4-1 in the 63rd minute before Timonah Wanyonyi scored a brilliant solo goal for Nakumatt in the 78th minute to make it 4-2.

Zoo FC beat Nzoia Sugar 3-1 in a match played on Saturday 11th August in Kericho, The homeside got their goals through Bernard Odhiambo, Kepha Ondati and Isaac Kipyegon while Nzoia’s only goal was scored by Festus
