Moyes: Man United will win the EPL

Manchester United will be top of the Premier League by November, according to David Moyes.

The former United manager says he will be ‘very surprised’ if Jose Mourinho’s side are not top of the league at the end of November because they have a favourable start to the season compared to their rivals.

Moyes’ reign as United manager was hampered by a difficult start to the season in which his side faced Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City within the opening five matches of the 13-14 campaign.

Speaking earlier in the week Mourinho stated that he believes we will see which teams are candidates to win the Premier League by the end of November.

And Moyes has piled the pressure onto his former club by insisting he expects them to be leading the way as we approach Christmas.

“It doesn’t matter who you are playing in the Premier League, they are tough.” Moyes told BBC Five Live.

“But if you were looking at the games that Manchester United have, the first nine, ten games. You’d have to say you are not playing an Arsenal, a City, a Chelsea in that period.

“That’s why I wonder if Jose’s words the other day, the ‘let’s wait until the end of November’, I would be very surprised if United weren’t top of the league come the end of November.

“I think the fixtures which have come out for them, and the way it has worked, will give them every opportunity to be there.”

However, he repeatedly complained about the amount of leaks to the media and  had to deal with angry fan protests against the club’s hierarchy.

In a statement published on the club’s website, joint-chairman David Sullivan said: “I would like to place on record my sincere thanks to David Moyes and his staff for achieving the target of keeping West Ham United in the Premier League.

“Throughout his time here, David has carried himself with dignity and honesty and we have all found him to be a pleasure to work with. He, Alan, Stuart and Billy accepted the challenge and attacked it head on, turning around a difficult situation. They deserve great respect for the job they have done and they leave the Club with our best wishes.

“When David and his team arrived, it was the wish of both parties that the focus be only on the six months until the end of the season, at which point a decision would be made with regards to the future.
