Xherdan Shaqiri – Stoke to Liverpool, £13.5m

Liverpool have been the big spenders this summer, but though they have spent a small fortune on Naby Keita (£52m), Fabinho (£40m) and Alisson Becker (£65m), Switzerland international Shaqiri is a quality addition.

Tipped as one of the young stars of German football from an early age, Meyer’s contract expired at Schalke over the summer and Palace may have got themselves a bargain if the 22-year-old midfielder can continue his rise.

Watford don’t sign players from Barcelona every day, but Deulofeu is well known to the club after spending a season on loan. Now 24, it is time for the winger to show his potential.

Jack Wilshere – Unattached to West Ham, free

West Ham have made seven signings so far with Felipe Anderson (£35m), Issa Diop (£22m) and Andriy Yarmolenko (£17.9m) all costing a lot. Their best deal might be for nothing if the former Arsenal midfielder can stay fit.
