Perhaps the most surprising transfer news from yesterday was that Liverpool have officially signed Fabinho from Ligue 1 side Monaco.
However, it would seem a certain Liverpool star played a big role in convincing Fabinho to join The Reds.
Liverpool had to pay around £43 million for the Brazilian holding midfielder, as well as fend off a late bid from Arsenal.
On joining Liverpool Fabinho told LiverpoolFC.com that,
“I am really excited about this move.
“This is something that I always wanted – this is a giant of a team. The infrastructures of the club look exceptional.
“A football club of this size coming after my services, I didn’t have to think that much about coming over.
“I will try to create my own history at this football club. Hopefully, on a personal level, I’m able to win titles with this club.
“I will try to grow and learn and improve myself, and to be part of the club’s history.”
Fabinho is a superb holding midfielder. The Brazilian is a great passer, he is calm on the ball, has great stamina, able to put in a great tackle and he can also get forward when necessary.
All of these qualities make him the perfect player to slip into Liverpool’s three-man midfield.
Especially when, in the past, Liverpool’s midfield has been accused of not having enough defensive cover.
But now Liverpool have bagged Fabinho, their midfield will be a real force to be reckoned with next season.
