Liverpool transfer news: Emre Can’s possible replacements revealed

The German midfielder’s move to Juventus could finally be completed next week.

According to The Guardian, Can will sign a huge five-year-contract.

And Can could still play for the Reds this season, having recovered from an injury in time for the Champions League showdown.

Here are bookmakers’ favourites to replace the 24-year-old.

Mario Lemina – 2/1

Southampton midfielder Lemina, 24, has shown glimpses of the talent this season that saw him win two Serie A titles for Juventus.

But he has struggled to show consistent form in a team that only narrowly to avoid relegation.

A move to the Premier League giants could reinvigorate his career and the likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino may bring the best out of him.

Reds fans desperate to find out just what he can offer needn’t look any further than the video above – of Lemina’s simply sensational strike for Gabon.

He might not be the like-for-like replacement for Can, but Betfair see him as the favourite to be snapped up, at 2/1.

Lewis Cook – 5/2

Cook has become one of Eddie Howe’s most pivotal players at Bournemouth this season.

The 21-year-old raised eyebrows after captaining England’s U20 squad as they won the 2017 FIFA World Cup – the first major tournament won by a Three Lions side since the 1966 World Cup.

Footage from his performances during the historic tournament shows he is a technically gifted, scheming midfielder who can dictate the passage of play with ease.

In fact, just a few months later he was called up to the senior squad.

Cook is priced at 5/2 to be signed by Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Leander Dendoncker – 3/1

Anderlecht starlet Leander Dendoncker was on the verge of completing a move to West Ham back in January but the Hammers failed to finalise a deal.

Liverpool could now swoop for the highly-rated 23-year-old – who has also been scouted by Manchester United.

The clip above shows Dendoncker possesses the similar knack to Can of scoring long-range stunners.

It might be a risk, given the significant step-up from the Belgian Pro League to the Premier League.

But Betfair reckon there’s still a chance a deal could happen, offering odds of 3/1.

Piotr Zieliński – 9/2

Liverpool have been long-term admirers of Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski.

The 23-year-old has attracted attention from several clubs after some sensational performances for the Serie A side.

One of his most memorable moments in the famous light-blue jersey is shown in the video above.

Earlier this month, Corriere dello Mezzogiorno reported Arsenal were looking to activate the Polish international’s £57m release clause.

But the Reds could still swoop for him, with Betfair offering odds of 9/2.
