The body of Ibrahim Odhiambo Opiyo was found dangling from a tree in the compound of Kawamang’aria Anglican Church of a village in Rarieda, Siaya County. The school’s headteacher, Mrs. Everline Abong’o, said the body of the class four pupil, dressed in school uniform, was discovered by a passer-by.
The school head, who described the boy as jovial and humble, said the pupil had left home for school only for him to be found dead several hours later. She said the reason behind the suicide is still unclear as the pupil did not leave behind a suicide note.
The boy’s body has been moved to Madiany Sub-county hospital mortuary as police started investigations.
